My name is Elizabeth Caissie. I did not choose writing, it chose me. The minute I learned to write, I fell in love with words. Throughout my life, I wrote poetry, journals and children’s stories. I did not get those works published until now, because I was too busy working in the thrilling world of advertising, traveling the world, and raising my wonderful daughter.
I was born in France, and after studying philosophy, I moved to the United States at the age of twenty-one. I left everything behind in the blink of an eye and never regretted that move. With my small suitcase and my broken English, I threw myself into the adventure. I discovered New-York city with the excitement of a kid on Christmas morning. I learned tremendously and thrived professionally. Intense living distracted me for a few exciting decades. But here I am, at fifty, finally finding some calm in my life and refocusing on writing as well as my career as an author. My life would not be complete without this achievement.
My first book is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2017. It is a memoir that raises the issues of parent alienation and father/daughter relationship. My next book, which is in the process of being written, is about a boy’s coming of age in Massachusetts, in the 40’s, and is inspired by my father’s upbringing.
I am profoundly touched by the weakness and flaws of human beings, but also by their resilience and imagination in time of crisis. With my writing, I wish to depict social issues and angsts in a modern compelling style, but also at a personal level.
I also aim to depict family issues that affect us all, while using an optimistic approach to complex relationships.
